The company is directed by Dr. Lowell Zelinski, who has nearly 30 years experience in the agriculture industry.  Before he began offering viticulture production services in Paso Robles and the Central Coast, Dr. Zelinski worked hard to apply his educational background and agricultural experience to establish Precision Ag as a premiere viticulture production consulting company.  Precision Ag is the only vineyard management company in Paso Robles with a Ph.D. on staff.  Dr. Zelinski sets high standards for himself and his staff to ensure that we provide growers reliable, high quality vineyard management and viticulture production consulting services.  We also utilize strategic alliances to enhance the services we offer.

"It all comes down to quality," says Dr. Zelinski. "The production of quality grapes is controlled by three factors. The first is weather and that can't be controlled. The other two are where Precision Ag comes in."

These two factors are:

• In Season-- These are the factors that can be effected right now, such as irrigation scheduling, fertilization, pest and disease management, pruning level, harvest timing and the uniformity of the grapes produced.
• Long-term-- Those factors that must be controlled over time, such as site selection, row orientation, and variety and rootstock selection.

All vineyards have areas of differing uniformity, creating challenges for both the grower and the winemaker. Technology such as electronic crop monitoring and soil moisture monitoring services, aerial imaging and geographic information systems now exist to improve uniformity and help take the guess work out of vineyard production practices.  This improves wine grape quality and helps reduce costs and negative envrionmental impacts.  At Precision Ag, we integrate this new technology with our tried and true agronomic practices which are based in sound science and research in all of the vineyard management and viticulture production services that we provide.
